1. All Scouts and youth participants MUST be accompanied by and be under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian on campouts. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children.

2. In rare cases where a parent/legal guardian cannot attend the campout or if they need to leave the campground for a period of time during the campout they should see a Pack Cub Scout Leader to arrange and complete paperwork for temporary guardianship for their child/children.   A Pack Cub Scout Leader shall not be named as the temporary guardian.

3. Scouts are not permitted to sleep in a tent with an adult that is not their parent/guardian (including a temporary guardian).  Scouts may however camp in a tent with other scouts.

4. All Scouts and siblings must have a buddy or parent with them at all times. At no time should any child be wondering around the campground alone or unattended.

5. No Scout or sibling can leave the campsite area without securing permission from his parent and/or a designated leader.

6. Two-deep leadership must be present at all times. This means that at least two adult leaders or one adult leader and a scout parent should be supervising all youth activities.

7. For non-district/council campouts, at least one adult on a pack overnighter must have completed Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) to properly understand the importance of program intent, youth protection guidelines, health and safety, site selection, age--‐appropriate activities, and sufficient adult participation.

8. Scouts and adults should employ food management practices that minimize attracting critters:

    b. Store personal food items securely in a cooler, tamper-proof container, or in your vehicle.

    c. Secure garbage away from the tent area in your vehicle or in designated garbage bins.

    d. Avoid storing and eating food inside tents.

    e. Keep the campsite clean of food scraps and wrappers.

9. Scouts and other youth should adhere to the following BSA pocket knife policy.

    a. The only persons allowed to carry POCKET KNIVES are adults and Scouts that have earned their whittling chip. (Bears and Webelos).

    b. Bears and Webelos carrying a pocket knife must have their Whittling Chip card on their person (e.g., in a pocket).

    c. Any whittling must be done in a designated area that keeps the scouts a safe distance from each other.

    d. All whittling must be done with adult supervision.

10. Scouts and adults should adhere to the BSA policies for fires and campfires:

    a. There must be a designated adult supervising a fire at all times.

    b. Before a fire is started, care should be taken to have fire retardants including water and sand readily available in case the fire needs to be extinguished.

    c. Only adults, Scouts BSA, and Webelos scouts are permitted to start and tend (put wood in) fires. Webelos scouts are only permitted to do this with adult supervision.

    d. Anything that goes into the fire stays in the fire.

    e. Scouts and adults should maintain a safe distance from the fire (at least 3 feet) unless it is necessary to get closer to cook or perform an authorized task.

    f. When cooking smores or other food on a stick, extreme care must be given not to wave or flick sticks with food items that may be hot or on fire.

   g. Make sure the fire is dead out before leaving it. You should be able to put your hand where the fire was and not feel any heat.

11. Scouts and adults must observe established quiet hours. If quiet hours are not specified, a good rule of thumb is 10:00 P.M. - 6:30 A.M. All children should be in their tents during quiet hours.

12.   No running in the immediate campsite including around the kitchen/cooking areas, firepits, and tents.

13.  Adults and youth must wear close-toed shoes at all times (no sandals, flip-flops, etc).

14. All electronic diversions (tablets, music players, handheld video games, etc) are to be left at home. Please limit cell phone use to what is needed. Camping is about enjoying the outdoors.

15. BSA policy prohibits smoking (including e-cigarettes) and the consumption of alcoholic beverages at all scouting events.

16. Pets are NOT allowed.

17. Scouts and adults should adhere to the Leave No Trace policy of the BSA.

18. Each family must police their campsite prior to leaving the campout.

19. Everything in the campsite should be returned to its original place.

20. Any Scout or family not following the rules of behavior or etiquette may be asked to leave.

Inclement Weather We always check the weather prior to each campout. We'll camp if there is light precipitation or intermittent rain, but won't (knowingly) camp in extreme weather. If bad weather is forecasted,we will either move campers inside or possibly postpone or cancel the event.
